Smishing Definition

What is Smishing?

Smishing is officially defined as use of a faux (fake) text message designed to convince the recipient that the text/links are legitimately from a reputable bank, company, news outlet, agency, etc. in an effort to get the recipient to open the email, text, etc. to click links, pics or take any action that may be nefarious in nature. You should never open emails or texts from unknown senders. Additionally, you should be cautious of text and emails from known individuals as well.
